MPG Consulting has a special commitment to ensuring that individuals and agencies serving populations of color are prepared to provide clients with transformative culturally and racially attuned clinical, programmatic, and administrative services. Our goals for continuing education grow out of the perspective and approach we bring to our consulting and training. Our orientation/perspective understands the constructs and intersections of racism, hetero-sexism, sexism and other forms of oppression based on social identity. We are grounded in the analysis and common language of The People’s Institute’s Undoing Racism® Workshop and we use that perspective to understand and present the intersection of gender bias, LGBTQIAP+ bias, and gender non-conforming bias with racism.
We approach CEU training in ways that invite participants to engage with each other in a non-shaming, non-blameful, non-judgmental collaborative manner that tackles the difficult questions, engages the difficult discussions in a transparent manner – brining everyone’s authentic voice to the table as we explore and learn in service to our clients.
Individuals
MPG Consulting CEU training workshops are especially for those who work with diverse urban populations. Our goal is to provide a safe setting to enhance clinical skills, expand areas of expertise and assist participants in learning from their experiences, as well as from the experiences of others. Each workshop is small enough for everyone to get sufficient support to improve productivity, success and professional development.
Organizations
MPG Consulting provides CEU training and professional development to small and mid-size social service organizations that either do not have training departments or sufficient access to strong staff training services. We provide culturally competent and anti-oppressive (anti-racist, LGBTQIAP+ affirming, non-sexist) continuing education training and consultation, to social workers at all levels in an agency – including direct service providers, supervisors, managers and executive leaders so they can provide culturally competent/anti-oppressive service, supervision and leadership. Our clinical staff training and development, coaching and supervision supports capacity building in creating a diverse, inclusive leadership and clinical staff. This training promotes cross-racial dialogue and collaboration among all staff, and helps to develop inclusive organizational structures, policies and procedures. Training teaches all staff to use an anti-racist, LGBTQIAP+ affirming, non-sexist and culturally attuned approaches with clients and staff. Workshops can be arranged onsite at your organization.
Our Team
The MPG Consulting Team is composed of primarily professional social workers, psychologists, psychiatrists and specialists in working with youth and substance abuse, community organizers, researchers, and law enforcement officers. These highly skilled professionals are familiar with the manifestations of depression, trauma, structural racism, and the public health approach to racial tension in urban poor communities of color. They have extensive experience doing training on issues of cultural and racial competence for mental health and human service staff.
